Mind Control

Mind Control: Granted by Nephthys, Luca, Sordan, Mallan and Balance.

The mind control tree concerns itself with controlling and shaping the thoughs and emotions of others. Its users are able to variously confuse, decieve and beguile their targets. Some of these miracles work better on weak-willed individuals. You may find many work better on minions or the folk of the city than on the canny people who frequent the Wessex Arms.

If you are targeted by a mind control miracle, you are not necessarily aware that you are being affected. Whether or not your PC realises they have been cast upon is up to your discretion. We would ask that you roleplaying being unaware if the caster has done a good job of concealing their vocal. If you are playing an NPC, you should count yourself as unaware of being cast at if the caster has obviously tried to conceal the vocal in some way, for example rattling it off mid-sentence.

Level 1: Order

Range: Target
Duration: 5 minutes
Call: OBEY <single-word-command>
Effect: You give a 1-word command that the target must endeavour to fulfill within the next 5 minutes. Commands that are likely to result in that person dying or suffering serious injury as a direct result (eg. OBEY: drown, autodefenistrate), or calls which the target genuinely doesn't understand OOC will result in the target being confused for a few seconds and the effect will end.

Level 2: Induce emotion

Range: Touch
Call: LEVEL 2 EFFECT
Effect: Induce any single emotional state from the list below in the target for five minutes. As with the alchemical effects it is up to the target to decide how to roleplay this. If you would like to induce an emotional state not on the list, please ask a ref.
Emotional states: Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy, Pride, Ennui, Paranoia, Remorselessness.

Level 3: Command

Range: Target
Duration: 5 minutes
Call: OBEY <two-word-command>
Effect: You give a 2-word command that the target must endeavour to fulfill within the next 5 minutes. Commands that are likely to result in that person dying or suffering serious injury as a direct result, or calls which the target genuinely doesn't understand OOC will result in the target being confused for a few seconds and the effect will end.

Level 4: Appropriation

Range: Special
Duration: 'Instant'
Call: LEVEL 4 EFFECT
Effect: This may only be cast upon someone whose social attention you have for the full vocal - notably you cannot have someone's "social attention" in combat. Then call "Level 4 Effect: You must give me that item" and indicate an item about their person. Your god's spirits will move their hands for you.

Level 5: Edict

Range: Target
Duration: 5 minutes
Call: OBEY <three-word-command>
Effect: You give a 3-word command that the target must endeavour to fulfill within the next 5 minutes. Commands that are likely to result in that person dying or suffering serious injury as a direct result (eg. OBEY: drown, autodefenistrate), or calls which the target genuinely doesn't understand OOC will result in the target being confused for a few seconds and the effect will end.

Level 6: Hallucinate

Range: Special
Duration: Inflict
Call: LEVEL 6 EFFECT
Effect: This may only be cast upon someone whose social attention you have. It still requires a vocal, which must follow all standard rules for vocals. Then call "Level 6 Effect: You are being attacked constantly from all sides!" Your god's spirits will confuse them for you.

Level 7: Possess

Range: Target
Duration: 5 minutes
Call: DROP

Your soul leaves your body and joins with agents of your deity to impose another being to carry out your will. This is a LEVEL 7 EFFECT. For strong-willed victims, this last 5 minutes. For weak-willed victims, this lasts 30 minutes. This is a traumatic experience for your body and from the moment this miracle is cast you drop to zero hit points on every location (you also take a DROP.) If the body you are occupying dies or is permanently injured during the time you are possessing it, your body will die or find itself similarly maimed when your soul returns, making this a very risky miracle to perform in potentially hostile situations. If your host body falls unconscious or you are expelled by a purity miracle there is a good chance your body will suffer some long-term deleterious effect.

For the duration of the miracle, the target must carry out your directions to the letter and in the spirit in which they were intended. As appropriate, this may be physrepped by you playing the victim, or the victim's player following your instructions. The victim will be able to remember everything about what happens when the effect ends. The effect cannot last for less than 5 minutes, at which point you will be forcibly ejected from a strong-willed person's body, or you may choose to leave a weak-willed person's body at any stage. After 30 minutes of possession, even a weak-willed victim will throw you off. Note that most people consider use of this miracle a gross violation of a person's dignity, and the law takes an extremely dim view of its use, even in arguably "good" applications. The church of Azrael consider this miracle a form of necromancy and its practitioners a kind of undead, as the soul leaves the body and returns.

When this effect ends, your soul returns to your body. You are conscious, but still on zero hit points to every location (and bearing any other relevant injury) until you are healed.

You must inform a ref of your intentions before you cast this miracle.
